Sam Unit (fuse box) replacement / repair / cloning

The Sam unit in these Smart cars is not just a fuse box but the central control unit for all the cars electrical systems. When these units fail it can be a very costly repair. Usually your only solution is to take your car to Mercedes and get them to supply and fit a new Sam unit, they then perform all the relevant coding to it to make it work. We can repair / refurbish Sam units and offer a replacement service at a fraction of the cost of a new unit.

Sam faults are normally due to the ingress of water into the electronics, a common fault on roadsters. To start with the SAM will usually only partially fail. Maybe your hazard lights, heater or electric windows will become intermittent or stop working completely. if you act quickly at the first signs of failure a repair is usually possible.

Where possible we offer a SAM repair service. When this is not possible we can fit a refurbished replacement to your Smart.

If you can't get your car to us you can post us your old SAM. We can sell you a refurbished unit, copy all the data from your old unit create a clone of your original. You then simply fit it to your car with no need for any costly recoding.

The SAM unit works in conjunction with your ECU, dash & keys. They are all married together so to repair this yourself you will need to replace all of these items. We have matched sets of used SAM, ECU, Dash and Key transmitters kits in stock should you require one. We can even match the mileage to your car.

For those of you who have access to a Star Diagnostic System we also offer a refurbishing service which will allow you to fit a second hand SAM to your car without it affecting your odometer. We stock refurbished, virginised SAM units.
